A fine George III silver wine coaster, the circular coaster with a gadroon edge over a geometric pierced side around a solid cartouche engraved with a crest of a snake entwined around three arrows over a Marquess’s coronet, over a bold ropetwist edge and with a mahogany base with concentric circles within. London 1770 by I.W, possibly either John Weldring or John Wilburd. Condition: Overall very good, the coaster is in very good condition, there are no splits to the silver nor any other damage, the base is held firmly in place, the hallmarks are clear and well struck and legible. Overall the piece has a lovely appearance and colour and is a fine example of Georgian silver. Diameter = 13.5 cm (5.25”)
