An early Victorian cast silver taperstick in the George II baroque style, the bobbin sconce on a slender capstan over a cast foliate inverted baluster with a naturalistic fluted shaft and a plain smaller baluster, to a foot with a dished centre and shaped stepped surround with scrolling husk shells. London 1847 by Walter Morrisse. Condition: Excellent, the taperstick is in very good condition with no damage or repairs, the castings are reasonably sharp consistent with its age and the piece stands well, the hallmarks are clearly struck and legible, and overall the piece has a lovely appearance and colour. Measurements: Height = 12.5 cm (5”) Weight = 140.3 g (4.51 oz t)
