A mid 19th century neoclassical sculpture in gilt bronze, the seated male figure dressed in a toga and seated on a decorated Klismos style chair with his left arm resting on the toprail, holding a scroll and looking out towards the viewer. Unsigned, but probably French, circa 1860. Condition: Overall very good, the sculpture is in excellent condition with no losses or damage, and no repairs. The gilding is in very good condition with relatively little loss, and overall the piece has a great appearance and patina. The sitter could be any number of people from Ancient Rome: Cicero, Pliny, Julius Caesar. Dimensions: Height = 23 cm (9”) Length = 20 cm (8”)
