The eagle sits atop branches and then the mirror plate with a relatively simple moulded frame. Below the frame is a very unusual ornament consisting of a hunting horn and sheafs of wheat, probably indicating that the mirror was made for the country house of a lady or gentleman landowner with sporting interests. A very unusual example of its kind and probably made as a special commission for a particular client. Beautiful, original gilding.
