It features an ebonised slip around the convex plate and then a small section of very fine leaf carving amongst decorative mouldings. After a large protruding moulding, there is a concave section with applied cannon ball detailing and then, around the edge of the piece, several raised mouldings which are tied together with ribbon details. A mirror of this impressive size must have been made for an important house and client and is a rare survivor today.
