All sauna heater elements will eventually fail. How long they last depends on frequency, temperature, and the hardness of your water. Elements can also fail prematurely if they are allowed to touch. Be sure to add the upgrade kit available on Sauna Marketplace. HUUM and Sauna Marketplace recommend replacing all elements and the rocks at the same time.
