Description A striking tile medallion by Mueller Mosaic Company of Trenton, New Jersey, salvaged from the historic Windsor House—also known as the Castle Above the Clouds—on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. This medallion features a beautifully composed figural, heraldic design of two dolphins facing one another, surrounded by scrolling foliate ornamentation and stylized floral elements. The mirrored composition and strong symmetry draw from Renaissance and Mediterranean decorative traditions, while the bold palette—deep red, turquoise, cobalt, and soft pink—reflects Mueller’s distinctive early 20th-century aesthetic. Windsor House, built in the 1930s for George and Elizabeth Scholze of the Chattanooga-based Scholze Tannery, is a rare Spanish Revival estate known for its extensive and thoughtfully designed tilework throughout the home. This medallion served as the focal point of the master bath and stands beautifully on its own as a piece of decorative art or can be incorporated into a new installation. This medallion measures 40’1/4″ wide, 41-7/8″ tall, and 2″ thick. There is existing mortar on the backside that does make this piece thicker (as pictured). This piece requires a custom shipping quote, please contact us if you have any questions.
